Culture Un-Jamming

Adbusters is a great looking magazine. It has some of the best design I have ever seen and I do read it when it comes out every 2 months for a mere $4.00 if you subscribe or twice that if you don't. My main problem with the magazine however is that it is long on good design, but short on content. It's like a fashion magazine without ads. The writers are all loons, they like to spout off anti-consumer/US catch phrases like they're going out of style.

Adbusters editor Kalle Lasn, takes 603 words in his article American Ego to say that the impending "war against Iraq is not really about democracy, regime change or even national security. It’s mostly about control over Iraq’s vast oil resources."

No 5h1t Sherlok. Everybody knows that (or thinks it). Even Janine Garafalo knows it.

Why do you think those snail eating surrender monkies are against the war? They already have contracts with Iraq for the oil.

Anyway, while I enjoy looking at adbuters magazine and the other materials they distribute, I find that actually reading the articles to be less informative and just as propogandizing as the people/corporations they are trying to hack down.

And not because I will likely be working for big oil this time next year.
