I watched part of myth busters today and I saw an interesting thing. The myth was that you can use guns to hunt with under water. Every gun they tested did indeed go off under water but they weren't very effective. The first gun tested was a shot gun. It fired but blew up. You would not want to be anywhere near shot gun fired under water. The high velocity rifle did not blow up but it wouldn't hurt you much at six feet. However for sure nobody I know would stand in front of a high powered rifle even under water. When the rifle was fired into the water from above the water, the bullet shattered immediately when it hit the water, so it wouldn't have gone very deep into the water.
